Cookbook Author Wins Living Now Book Award

LOS ANGELES, CA, September 10, 2015— On September 1, 2015, Pomegranates and Saffron: A Culinary Journey to Azerbaijan was announced a Living Now Book Awards Silver Medalist in the ethnic/specialty cookbooks category. This is the first cookbook on Azerbaijani cuisine to win this award. Presented each year, Living Now Awards honor best books that promote fulfilling, productive lives. “These award-winning books inspire people to be more tolerant and forgiving,” said Awards Director Jim Barnes. ” In a world filled with racial injustice and religious intolerance, millions of people are living in fear and lacking the basics of a safe, happy life. Good books are a weapon against ignorance.”
The book also won the 2014 Gourmand Best in the World Cookbook Award.

Pomegranates and Saffron is the first cookbook on Azerbaijani cuisine published in the United States. In the 336-page book produced by AZ Cookbook, readers can explore over 200 tempting recipes for appetizers and salads, soups and stews, pasta, meat, vegetable and egg dishes, breads, saffron rice pilafs, aromatic drinks, and desserts, all adapted for preparation in a Western kitchen. The book is comprised primarily of never-before-published recipes, along with favorites from the author’s blog, azcookbook.com. Interspersed throughout the text are glimpses of local culture and traditional food-related proverbs that will make the reader’s adventure even more memorable.

The Second Edition of the book is scheduled for release for the online sale on September 30, 2015 for the U.S. and international market. It is currently available to pre-order on https://azcookbook.com. In Baku, Azerbaijan, the book is available in limited quantities in all Ali and Nino bookstores, as well as in Kitab Evi bookstore on Fountain Square.
