I arrived in Los Angeles from Baku on August 31. On September 1, still jet-lagged and already homesick, I was feeling down. I checked my email box. And ta da! A surprise! An email notifying me that my book “Pomegranates & Saffron” became the Silver Medalist of Living Now Book Awards! Totally made my day and cheered me up! We won in the ethnic/holiday/specialty category.
Here’s a an excerpt from the press release sent out by the awards committee, to help you better understand what this award is all about:
The Living Now Awards recognize the excellence of newly published books in a wide range of lifestyle categories, from cooking to spirituality. In all, 113 gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded in 35 categories, chosen from 530 total entries. “These award-winning books inspire people to be more tolerant and forgiving,” said Awards Director Jim Barnes. ” In a world filled with racial injustice and religious intolerance, millions of people are living in fear and lacking the basics of a safe, happy life. Good books are a weapon against ignorance.”
I feel honored to see my cookbook included in the list of books that have a positive impact on people’s lives. So happy and excited!
This comes after we recently won the Best in the World Gourmand Cookbook Award. I couldn’t have asked for more recognition of my work. Amazing feeling!
Thank you once again for rooting for me and for your friendship!
WE DID IT TOGETHER – AGAIN!
